Day 14 Bankut to Uppony

Uncharacteristically I overslept, but as the planned walk was a short 18 kms, downhill or on the flat it did not matter too much just this once.
The day fell into three parts, firstly a walk down through the trees out of the Bukk mountains. The beech trees were remarkably tall, in places they had fallen down across the path bringing adjacent trees with them. A bit of clambering over tree trunks was then required to follow the path.
The second part began at the village of Malinka, the Kektura followed the road through this village and the next. There were many bars and shops along the way and as it was hot a Coke and Cornetto were warranted. Then the third part was beside a lake with fishermen, picnicers and sunbathers enjoying the waterside. The lake ended at a gorge where the road took you through into the village of Uppony where I am staying the night at the Oreg Somfa Vendeghaz. On greeting the hosts I was given a welcome drink of Palinka. You down it in one it seems. It seems quite strong but you don't realise that until later....after the third shot.
